CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii -- Military families have a variety of options to keep their children occupied during furlough Fridays aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Marine Corps Community Services and the MCB Hawaii school liaison compiled various activities including educational and recreational programs to supplement the new four-day school week. Full Story
Local ballet makes Toys for Tots donation
HONOLULU-Dancers with the Hawaii State Ballet's 2009 production of 'The Nutcracker' pose with Cpl. Isaac Yuen (left), Lance Cpl. Phil Ramil and some of the toys they collected during a week-long drive to support Toys for Tots. The dancers presented several toys to the Marines Saturday, Oct 31, 2009, and are the first donations to the Marine Corps' 2009 Toys for Tots Hawaii collection effort. TOYS FOR TOTS HAWAII
The Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots Hawaii drive is proud to announce that it will again be partnering with The Salvation Army for the 2009 Toys for Tots Collection effort. The Salvation Army has been providing toy distribution services to this effort for several years here in Hawaii. Their volunteers man the collection warehouse, catalog, organize and distribute donations to agencies that serve families in need. BEQ renovations hurried for returning Marines
MCB HAWAII - As Oct. 18 approaches, the expected completion date for barracks renovations, Barracks 5070 receives it's finishing touches and awaits furniture installation, room cleaning. Oct 1 on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay. Barracks 5070 and 5071 recently underwent renovations that focused on safety precautions such as smoke detectors, sprinklers, as well as new showerheads and a new coat of paint per room.
